Employee Development News!
We believe that a key element in remaining competitive is the development of our staff, and Orley has always placed staff training at the forefront of its strategic objectives.
Orley has a close alliance with the Food Bev SETA and in 2009 4 employees successfully completed the Leadership Management Development Programme (LMDP) – a joint initiative by the University of Stellenbosch and Food Bev SETA.
3 employees are nearing the end of their 2 year First Line Manager Learnership and we have registered 11 employees who will be doing the Team Leader Learnership in 2010.
2 apprentices successfully completed their Trade tests during 2009 as Fitter and Electrician respectively. In order to continue to build capacity we are currently recruiting 2 “unemployed “apprentices who will fill our artisan pipeline over the next 2 to 3 years.
Last, but certainly not least are our ABET learners who will be completing their exams in March 2010.
We wish all our employees involved in these and many other courses of study well for 2010.
Orley Soccer Action world Cup
The Orley family had their own mini world cup held at the Montague Arena on Friday the 28th May. We had 12 teams which consisted of ten and 2 ladies teams. It was a fun filled event. Fans blowing their vuvuzelas South African style!
“Congratulations and Thanks to everyone being involved in this fantastic event! Special thanks to the organizers - Leighton and Sheraj! It was well organized, enjoyed by everyone and a fantastic team building exercise. Now we cannot only talk about an Orley Family as a working group, but also as a group having fun! I want to applaud England (Sugar Dep.Team) to be the winner, followed by Bafana-Bafana (Raw Material Stores Team) and Argentina (Panning Dep. Team). You have done very well, even France (management team) couldn’t beat you. As I said during the medal ceremony - the real winner is the extended Orley Family! We need more of such initiatives in the future, and it will be strongly supported from the management side. Ladies - your match was a highlight of the tournament!! Your desire to win, your fighting spirit was overwhelming! Thank you so much for your enthusiasm” says Mr. Janik CEO
Congratulations to Team Netherlands (ladies) and better luck next time to the Brazilians!
Well Done to England (Sugar Department) on winning the event! You guys deserved it!
Commiserations to Bafana - Bafana (Raw Materials Store) and Argentina (Panning) who ended up with silver and bronze respectively!
To Leighton Harris who seamlessly planned the tournament. Thank you!
To the FANS, you guys rocked!!!!!!
South African Breweries - Supplier of the Year
We are truly proud to have been awarded the SAB Floating Trophy for the Supplier of The Year by South African Breweries.
“We divided the suppliers into teams when they arrived so they were forced to mingle, make friends and work together to win (just like we have to do!) The concentration on the faces was intense, as was the inter-team competitiveness. Great fun was had by all!” says Andrea Shea ( SAB)
Recognition to the Orley team dedicated to this account.
Keep up the great work!
SAAFOST
SAAFOST End of the year Function
Orley took part in SAAFOST year End Function in 2009 which was held at Foodcorp’s most stylish venue called 7th Floor Innovation Centre in Black River Park.
Orley owned the chocolate corner, with our chocolate fountain oozing with the best REAL MILK CHOCOLATE made especially for the chocolate fountains. It was a hit, especially with the ladies! Great food and tasted the most talked about Rooibos espresso. There was a lot of diversity with the creativity they had with Rooibos that left us in awe.
The evening was a great success and as Orley Foods, we thank SAAFOST for the invitation.
Special thanks to the Orley team that made the evening a success (Tuks, Merlyn and Pamela)
See you at the IUFOST 2010!!!!
